| Little stars like our sun have long lives (~10 billion years). Right now our sun is middle aged and is still fusing hydrogen into helium. It will be another 4 billion years or so before the sun will start fusing helium into carbon, officially becoming what astronomers call a Red Giant. | |||||||||||||||||||||
